Magnum Photos including their strategy and implementation around Cloud Computing, Crowdsourcing, SEO, Gamification and Linked Open Data. We worked closely with Magnum’s DAM vendor,
Orange Logic to move Magnum’s data storage infrastructure and application stack from a traditional co location hosting facility to
Amazon Web Services. We designed and delivered a Tagasauris, a game-changing approach to metadata creation and enrichment to improve the find-ability of images in Magnum’s photo archive. The system couples Human-based Computation with collective intelligence, e.g., Linked Open Data – Connect Distributed Data across the Web, across multiple micro labor and social media channels. Starting as pilot in New York, the system now processes all archival and new photographic production for Magnum worldwide. We launched an SEO initiative on top of these foundational successes, increasing inbound search traffic to Magnum’s website by more that 38%. We’re just getting started …
